The SEI Tec Charter School board meeting was held at the West Side School District office last week. SEI Tec or (Southeast Idaho Technical School) is a multi-district technical school for students from West Side, Preston and Malad districts.
Dr. John Miller, College of Southern Idaho Dean of Education, attended through the Idaho Education Network system.
The group welcomed a new board member, Doug West of Preston.
It was reported that the visit from the state and regional special education directors was a positive one and many questions were answered. This meeting helped clarify how the students with special needs would be served. The board voted on high school graduation requirements and that the threshold will be set at 46 graduation credits.
Students who would like to earn a SEI Tec diploma would need to complete a capstone course in their content area and have job experience and complete their senior project in their chosen area of study starting in the year 2015.
