FAIRVIEW – On the surface, opposition from neighbors to a subdivision may appear to be nothing more than a case of “not in my back yard” or NIMBY.
But it appears to be more of a concern over there being enough water and whether the land involved can be further subdivided into smaller lots.
Dozens of neighbors packed the room last Thursday where the Franklin County Planning & Zoning Commission heard the request.
Although a public hearing hadn’t been officially scheduled, commissioners allowed people to speak, bringing about an hour’s worth of comment. Commissioners were officially hearing a request to divide three lots in the existing Fox Run Estates into Fox Trail Subdivision.
“It was tabled to seek further legal counsel,” said county building official John Burg. “We have to determine if there is a legal right to subdivide to the extent requested.” The next P&Z meeting scheduled is on Oct. 10.”
