Senior tournament set at golf course on Aug. 28

Preston Golf and Country Club will be hosting a Senior Golf Tournament next Wednesday, Aug. 28.

This tournament is open to players 50 and over. Flights will be determined by handicap and will play a forward set of tees, said John R. VanVleet, general manager and head professional at the Preston course.

The entry fee for the event is $40 and includes a cart. Member’s entry fee is $25. This will be a 1 p.m. shotgun start, he said.

“The Club recently sponsored a Memorial Junior Golf Tournament presented by SEICAA. In the boy’s seven and eight year-old division Seth Read was first and Mason Chatterton finished second,” he said.

“In the boy’s nine and 10 year-old division Gage Archibald finished first with a 54 and second was Logan Dabb with a 57. In the boys 11 and 12 year-old division Jayden Dabb finished first with a 54 and Carter Thurston was second with a 78.

“In the boy’s 13 and 14 year-old division Jayden Smith was first with a 44 and second was Cooper Kunz and Aaron McNeil with matching 49s. In the boy’s 15-18 year-old division Sawyer Jensen finished first with a 40 and Blake Jordan was second with a 51.

“In the girl’s eight and nine year-old division Sydney Kelley finished first and Molly Ray finished second. In the girl’s 10 to 13 year-old division Izzy Ray finished first with a 79 and Erika Ray finished second with an 80. And in the girl’s 14-15 year-old division Abby Ray finished first with a 52 and Alexa Archibald finished second with a 54.”
