Hypnotist Chris Mabrey ‘thrills’ crowd at Fair

From making volunteers dance to “Thriller” to convincing a man that he’s a Barbie doll, combining comedy and hypnosis is what Chris Mabrey did best at the annual Franklin County Fair on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

“I wasn’t here last year, but I’ve performed in Preston three times,” Mabrey said. “I turned down other work to be here this year. I love the area and food. I usually go fish here, too.”

After seeing his first hypnotist at the age of nine, Mabrey knew he had found his calling.

“A week before I saw the hypnotist, I was talking to my grandpa and he told me that ‘the best thing in the entire world is laughing,’ Mabrey said. “It releases endorphins and endorphins automatically heal you.
