“I’ve never seen a sharper picture before,” Franklin County Theatre Arts Council member Paul Swainston said as he saw a digital projection on the screen for the first time.

A digital projector was installed last week at the Worm Creek Opera House. The installation concludes a several month long effort to raise funds for the new equipment.

Paul Swainston, a member of the Franklin County Theatre Arts Council, stands next to a “new,” digital projector that was installed at the Worm Creek Opera House recently. The projector will allow the council to obtain first-run movies to show at the local, downtown theater. A VIP showing will take place this Thursday.

Swainston, who spearheaded the project, said digital projectors are necessary for theaters because old style reel-to-reel films are hard to find and becoming a thing of the past.

The Franklin County Theatre Arts Council is going to show off the “new” projector with a VIP showing on Thursday, Aug. 8, at 7:30 p.m. The event is for donors and those associated with the council and theater.

Swainston said the movie selection will be a surprise and he promises all who attend will be happy with it.
