Devin Rae Capell, daughter of Zane and Natalie Jensen of Preston, a singer/ songwriter living in Sublet, Kan., is bringing her music home and putting on a show Saturday, July 27, at 1:30 p.m. in Benson Park, during rodeo weekend.

LAMONTS 5X3 A-C CHECKCapell is releasing her debut album, “Middle of Nowhere,” on July 25, 2013, on her own d-R Trailing Star Productions label. The album features songs inspired by the last couple of years living in the midwest, as well as some of her older, popular tunes, like “Fireworks” and “Closer to You.”

The 2008 PHS graduate didn’t sing much in public early on. She did, however, spend a lot of time singing while driving a tractor or riding her horse. In high school she was on the rodeo team and active in the FFA. She joined the local popular band called Border Town and did a gig or two at Idaho Days before leaving the area.

She met and married Seth Capell, a Utah State University agricultural student and rodeo team member, who moved her to the midwest after graduation.

Now the multi-talented musician, who plays guitar, banjo, fiddle and more, writes songs that will put person on horseback, riding through a thunderstorm in the mountains of southeastern Idaho, and in the next track send you spinning in a Kansas tornado.

“I try to make my songs as visual as possible,” Capell said regarding her writing style. “I like it when I hear a song that literally shoots me right into the middle of whatever I’m singing about, so I try to emulate that in my own songs.”

Capell will be back in town rodeo weekend to visit family, and has decided to put on an album release concert while she is here. Come out and be a part of launching the CD on Saturday, July 27, at 1:30 p.m. in Benson Park.

“I’m excited we get to spend a couple of weeks in Preston.
