Relay for Life team Franklin County Medical Center Home Care is conducting a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society by having the community vote on who will kiss a goat.
The contestants competing to kiss the goat are Kelly Spackman, Dax Keller, Sheriff Dave Fryar and Saundra Hubbard. Whoever raises the most money will be deemed the “unlucky winner” and will kiss the goat.
“It will be pretty funny,” team captain Amanda Sidwell said. Despite not wanting to kiss a goat, the contestants are not unwilling to do so if they win, Sidwell said.
“They all laughed when we told them,” Sidwell said. “They thought it was a good idea.”
As a cancer survivor, Spackman, who owns Kelly’s Exxon, is willing to kiss a goat if it raises money for a cure. “Whatever it takes to beat this terrible disease, I will do,” Spackman said. “If it takes kissing a goat to help someone else, I’ll do it.”
Keller, who owns Ron Keller Tires, is attempting to avoid kissing the goat, but still raise money.
“Would you want to kiss a goat? I’m giving free flat repairs to anyone who votes for someone else,” Keller said. “I’m sure that the people for ethical treatment of animals would not let me kiss that goat and put it through that.”
