The Preston Citizen bookstore will show off its new look, Thursday through Saturday; July 18, 19 from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. then on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. A ribbon cutting is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday.
The inside of The Preston Citizen building has had a total makeover. The Citizen gave patrons a chance to express their view of the facilities during a recent survey.
A lot of the comments stated the store needed to be updated.
Publisher, Greg Madson, went to work remodeling the premises. Walls have come down and new paint was applied.
New carpet was installed and the newsroom and business offices have changed places.
Some of the old shelving has been replaced for better product display. Counter tops and cabinets have been refinished.
There is also a sitting area where people can relax and look at books from the shelves.
Folks who have not been in for a while seem to be pleased with the changes.
“People come in and say ‘Wow!’” said assistant editor Robert S. Merrill. “We can hear it clear back in the editorial area.”
Rhonda Gregersen, bookstore manager said, “ I love, love, love it. We are finally out of the 1960s.”
She said the customers have also enjoyed the new look.
“We have had no negative feedback.”
There will be prizes, gifts and food at the grand opening.
