DAYTON – You can take your pick of activities to fill your 4th of July at the West Side 2013 Celebration presented by the City of Dayton.
It starts with bell ringing throughout the city at 6:15 a.m. throughout Dayton followed by flag raising at 6:45 a.m. Fun Run registration is at 6:50 a.m., cost of $5 per participant, $25 per family. For pre-registration or route information call Jennifer Sage at 801- 310-2997.
The Mile Run gets underway on the West Side Track at 7 a.m. for age groups 5-8 and 9-12, while the 5K Run starts at 7:30 a.m. Runners are asked to line up west of the West Side bleachers.
A Pancake Breakfast runs from 7:30-9:30 a.m., at a cost of $4 per plate or $20 per family. The Patriotic Program is at 10:30 a.m. in the Dahle Fine Arts Center. That will include announcement and honoring of the parade grand marshal.
Lunch will be served from Noon-2 p.m., including Dutch oven potatoes, BBQ pork, roll and salad for $5 a plate or $25 a family.
The meal will be served before and after the parade. Parade lineup is at 12:30 p.m. at Pine Cone Acres. For lineup information or coordination call Valaree Sharp at 208-766-3074. The parade starts at 2 p.m. For parade entry information call Eileen Wedel at 208-747-3131.
Entertainment and games will round out the day from 2-4 p.m. There will be a dunking machine, fish pond, greased pole, water slide and zip line. Also, a field goal kick contest, tug-o-war and many other activities.
In addition, bingo is set for 2:30 p.m. at the pavilion, a pie-eating contest at 3 p.m. and airplane drop at 3:45 p.m., the day’s final organized event.
