Franklin County High School looking for new home
By RODNEY D. BOAM
Franklin County High School no longer has a home.
The Preston School District has anxiously waited for the Idaho National Guard Armory reconstruction to be completed to move back into the facility. Franklin County High has been housed at the Armory for years.
While the remodeling was going on this past winter, Franklin County High School took temporary shelter in the West Side’s Beutler Middle School.
“We are so appreciative of West Side School District for letting us use their facilities this past year,” said Fred Titensor, Preston School District Board chair.
However, when the construction was completed this spring, National Guard officials told the district they didn’t want Franklin County High back at the Armory.
“We were not invited to come back,” said Titensor. “We are trying to find a solution.”
The board chair said the school district is dedicated to the program and the board is in agreement it is vital to the community.
“You can’t put Franklin County High students on the same campus as the regular high school. The rules are more strict,” Titensor said. “We have it so they (students) have to meet certain standards.”
