FRANKLIN – A recent referendum from Franklin City residents, requesting a budget hearing and asking for all future budgets to be reviewed with the position of a future city administrator to be stricken from all future city budgets, was denied by the city council and Mayor Todd Hawkes. Officials claimed the document was not acceptable under city codes.

The denial letter, sent from the city to Tom Midzinski, Mark Dietrich and Glen Seamons, stated the proposed petition was not in accordance with city Code 1-8-2 (c) and it had not been presented within the time span for submitting such a document.

“This letter reflects everything we have run into with the city since we started,” said Seamons. “We have had no fair opportunity to express our voice. They just won’t listen.”
