WESTON – About 100 bicyclists are expected to race through Weston as part of a Logan Regional Hospital fundraising event July 13, Mayor Camille Larsen said.
The group was the most recent to register their race and pay the refundable $200 fee with the city, she said. The fee is charged to all groups who want to ride through the city as a way to educate bicyclists about proper decorum, the mayor said.
Most in the bicycle community think it’s a great way to help educate riders, she said. The ordinance was passed earlier this year after problems arose with groups going through the city last year.
“We are also hoping a light pole will be donated for the ballpark lights,” Larsen said. She indicated Rocky Mountain Power has previously committed to installing a poll.
