Seven miles northeast of Preston, nestled between the rolling hills near the banks of the Bear River sits El Shaddai Sanctuary and Refuge, a place of comfort and peace where owner and counselor Gloria Bagley hopes women can come to grow closer to God.

Strolling around the pond that sits between the cluster of log cabins and chapel, one can see dozens of species of birds flitting among the reeds, their tranquil chirping adding to the atmosphere.

Gloria Bagley holds a Bible and stands in one of the rooms of her sanctuary where she invites women to come and grow closer to God.

“I always wanted a place where I could go get away, to get a whole different pace, different place, different perspective, but I never knew of a place,” Gloria said. “So when I got these cabins, that’s what I wanted — people to be able to come up here — because it’s so quiet and peaceful to just be able to think.”
