Pioneer Elementary School teacher Chrystal Malcom works with her class on a reading project recently. Malcom was awarded $1050 to obtain a ceiling mounted projector in her classroom from the Nucor steel company.
Nucor awarded five grants to the Preston School District. Kelly Blumberg from PJHS received $637 for an iPad and software to work with special needs, non-verbal students. Melinda Harris, PHS, received $428 for a reading program for junior high students.
Candy Larsen, Oakwood, was awarded $250 for a reading program for English language learning students. Glenda Torfin, Andrea Ward and Vicky Mather, PJHS, were awarded $296 for a classroom set of reading books.
District Superintendent Joel Wilson wanted to congratulate the teachers who received the funds and Nucor for their generous donations.
