Several campgrounds in and around Franklin County will provide outdoor enthusiasts plenty of venues for outdoor recreation during Memorial Day weekend.
Local officials said Cub River is running very high, despite a lack of heavy snow in the mountains and water temperatures are extremely cold. Campers should take extreme precautions for safety’s sake, even though peak flows have already occurred, officials added.
There are several campgrounds near Preston around waterways and camping will be allowed on most, according to county officials. Things could be more crowded at these spots than normal this year because of the expected warm and dry weather.
There will be no garbage containers around reservoirs. Campers are urged to take out everything they bring in.
