DAYTON – A Logan student won the second-annual Dahle Piano Competition on Saturday and took home a $1,000 prize for his efforts. The second-place winner was from West Side.
Hayden Hubbard, from Logan High School, was first. Zachery Talbot, from West Side, was second and Josh Smedley, Marsh Valley, third. Talbot won $500 and Smedley $300.
“All participants received $100 in prize money, said assistant principal Spencer Barzee.
“Our competition this year was a great success,” said Janalyn Maw, West Side spokesperson. “It was an inspiring evening. The students are an amazing example of how great you can be with a ton of hard work and perseverance,” she said.
“One of the judges emailed me after the competition and said, “Please, accept my congratulations on the great event. Give my best regards to Mr. Larry Dahle and his wife. They have done an amazing job with supporting young gifted pianists. I’m positive this competition will be growing and attracting more and more talented performers year to year,’” said Maw.
