The long anticipated Bennett Cup was held on April 17 and 18 in the Preston High School auditorium with Preston School District’s finest young musicians performing before judges.
At the Wednesday evening performance, Kevin Payne was the winner of the piano competition with Hailey Griffeth taking second place and Madilyn Olsen taking third place. Bethany Jensen playing the clarinet took first place in the instrumental portion of the competition. Sheena Andersen played the piano to win second place and Nathan Rawlings played his tenor sax to take third.
Thursday evening was the vocal and string portion of the competition. The men’s vocalist winner was Tate Bradfield, Cory Swainston came in second and Kevin Payne was the third place winner. Kassidy Veibell was the winner of the women’s vocals, Tori Allen was second and Taessia King took third.
Kristy Knapp won the strings competition playing the violin, Tate Bradfield and his banjo won second and Whitney Groll took third playing the cello.
Last year’s Bennett Cup winners, Kaytlynn Garbett, Tanille Durfee, Andrew Robinson and Sariah Seare, performed for the audience.
