DAYTON – The West Side Pirates softball team came back from spring break ready to play and roared away against district rival Soda Springs on Wednesday, winning the game 12–9.
Pitcher Britani Moser struck out seven batters and Madi Moser, Kaity Lemon, Kelsi Chugg, Ally Lemmon and Courtney Priestley all had two hits apiece.
The Pirates led 5-1 after two innings, but found themselves behind 8-5 heading into the bottom of the fifth.
“They showed some maturity and we had a few girls that stepped up and showed some leadership. That calmed everyone down,” Coach Daran Smart commented.
Each of the nine West Side batters scored at least once, while Ally Lemmon scored twice for the team.
