The Preston Community Food Pantry, The Preston Citizen, and Ron Keller Tire, Inc. of Preston have joined forces to conduct a fund drive for the pantry. The pantry recently completed construction of its facilities at 580 W. Oneida (an attachment to the Archery Building). Operating funds are needed to cover the cost of transporting food from the Idaho Food Bank, for utilities and insurance. The pantry will soon be a partner with the Idaho Food Bank in Pocatello.
Donation forms will be distributed in The Preston Citizen and the The Preston Citizen Extra. They will also be distributed at or by local churches, businesses and professional clubs. Members of the Honor Society and the Builder’s Club of the Preston Junior High School, under the direction of their leaders, will be canvassing the county to make sure that everyone receives a donation form and to encourage residents to donate. The co-leaders of the Honor Society are Stephanie Marlow and Melinda Harris, and the leader of the Builder’s Club is Valicia Fuller.
Donations can be mailed to the pantry at P.O. Box 109, Preston, ID 83263 or taken to RKT, Inc, at 160 S. Main. Those that deposit their donations at RKT will be offered an oil change at half price.
The pantry is an all-volunteer organization that can use help in gathering and distributing food. The pantry will soon start distributing food on a weekly basis. The pantry can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org, or 208-254-2009.
