Preston High School’s annual Bennett Cup will begin tonight, Wednesday, April 17, at 7 p. m. on in the high school auditorium. It will continue the next evening.
The piano and instrumental portion of the competition will be tonight and the vocal and string portion will be on Thursday evening. Students may compete in more than one category. The competition is free to the public.
The winners from last year’s competition include Andrew Robinson, winner of men’s vocals, and Sariah Seare, who won the woman’s vocals. They will also perform for the audience.
Last year’s piano winner, Kaytlynn Garbett, will play a solo. Katie Swainston will play the strings and Tanille Durfee will show her instrumental skills.
“Preston High School and hundreds of students are greatly indebted to the Bennett’s for their unselfish service to the musical arts in Franklin County. The Bennett Cup Committee now carries on the tradition,” said committee member Karen Child.
