Popular local author Cami Checketts is returning to The Preston Citizen, 77 S. State, to sign copies of her latest two books, “Poison Me” and “Dying to Run,” on Friday, April 12, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Her book, Poison Me, is riddled with intrigue, romance, and a strong sense of family. Follow Jake Merrill, who was raised by his grandmother Ruby and her hilarious friends. After a suspicious death at the retirement home where Ruby lives, she enlists Jake and Chanel, the beautiful activities director, to help her find the killer. But the secrets Ruby has kept for decades threaten her family and the man she’s always loved, but could never have.
Chanel’s unstable ex-boyfriend, a presumably dead relative and vicious criminals add to the confusion. Time is running out as Jake, Chanel and Ruby desperately search for clues to solve the murders and fight to save those they love.
Dying to Run, a sequel to her book “Dead Running,” is the story of Cassidy Christensen, who wants to run. She was captured by the same traffickers who killed her mother. Cassidy’s only hope is Dr. Tattoo, a man she loves but nobody trusts. When she finally gets a chance to run, someone else she cares about is taken. Running might be her only chance at survival, but Cassidy won’t allow another family member to be killed in her place.
Come join Checketts, a former West Side resident and the mother of four boys, who resides in Smithfield.
