About 150 Preston High students staged a peaceful walk out Tuesday about 2 pm to protest a proposed hybrid schedule the Preston School District is considering. Students walked from the school to State Street, north to about 100 North, then walked back to the high school.
They were chanting in unison as they walked, urging the district to scrap the hybrid schedule.
Preston School District Superintendent Joel Wilson said the school was aware of the protest and they allowed the students to express their opinion. He noted the protest coincided with lunch hour for some of the protestors. Many of the students disbursed back to class about an hour after the protest began.
Several students expressed their frustration with the hybrid schedule and said they planned to attend the school board meeting tonight at 7 p.m.
