Preston traveled to Highland High School on Thursday, March 14, for its first track meet of the season.
The girls team came in third with 59 points, behind 5A Highland with 73 and first place Rigby at 159. The boys team also placed third with 64 points, behind Highland with 66 and Rigby at 149.
“Overall it was a good first meet,” said coach Brandon Lyon. “We are still figuring things out with both teams. We are deciding where to put people in spots where they are going to help the team the most.
“Rigby is obviously very strong on both the boys and girls side, but we saw some encouraging results that continue to make us believe we will be right there with Rigby at the end of the season.”
First place finishers include Olivia Seamons, triple jump, 34’10”; and Johnny Iverson, 300m, 42.35. Second place went to Kendon Harrison, 1600m and 3200m at 4:48 and 10:42; boys 4×100 at 46.29; Vinny Silva, long jump and triple jump at 19′ 6.5” and, 38′ 8.5”; girls 4×200, 1:54.78; and Kenidee Hyde, pole vault, 9′.
Preston will travel to Century on Thursday.
