West Side overcame a disappointing loss to Grangeville on Friday evening, regrouped Saturday morning and beat the Firth Cougars at Capital High School in Boise to bring home the third-place boys basketball trophy.
Like it has been for many games this season, the Pirate defense clamped down on Firth, limiting the Cougars to just 27 percent field-goal shooting in the 48- 44 win. West Side also dominated on the boards with a 45-25 advantage and made the Cougars give up 17 second-chance points.

The Pirates took a lead in the first quarter, but Firth caught up and by the half it was tied at 24. Coach Tyler Brown commented on the game saying, “My seniors played the majority of the time, since this would be their last game together, and they really came through and did great… we got to end our season with a win, that’s hard to do.”
