Five-week food course offered by Extension

The University of Idaho Extension is offering a five-week course on the basics of food preservation that begins on March 7.

Classes will be held Thursday mornings, at 9 a.m., according to Laura Sant, Franklin County Extension educator. She said they will be held at the Robinson Building on the Franklin County Fairgrounds, 186 W. 200 N. in Preston.

Class topics include canning basics, March 7; low-acid foods, March 14; high-acid foods, March 21; freezing and drying, March 28; and pickling and preserves, April 4.

Sant said the cost is $50 for all classes or $15 for one class. The registration deadline is March 1.
