Six competing Pirate wrestlers all earned a spot at state and four out of six were crowned as district champions Friday at a district meet.
The four champions are Carson Roberts (120), McCoy Roberts (182), Derek Wedel (195) and Sage Reddest (220). The rest of the Pirate wrestling team attending state is comprised of TJ Stokes and Taylor Beckstead.
Taylor and TJ came from behind to win their matches with Taylor sticking his opponent in 52 seconds. Carson Roberts pinned all three opponents, while McCoy Roberts pinned both of his opponents as well. Derek Wedel won his single match in the finals by fall and Sage Reddest was an automatic state contender in the 220-pound weight division.
