Several pairs of used eyeglasses were collected by Preston High School’s Leo Club at a recent “Night for Sight” basketball game when the Indians played Bonneville.
“I couldn’t be happier with how the event went. The community was so willing to donate and also so willing to buy raffle tickets. We raised more than we expected. I can’t wait to see the success of next year’s Night for Sight game,” said Laiken Davis, Leo Club president.
The Leo Club is sponsored by the Preston Lions and past president David Kunz said many fans indicated they forgot about the event and were directed to many local businesses where Lions collection boxes are located.
Patrons who brought used eyeglasses received a free raffle ticket for each pair of eyeglasses donated. Anyone who wished to participate in the raffle could purchase tickets, but the grand prize of the player-autographed game ball was restricted to those who donated eyeglasses, said Kunz.
