Preston boys basketball started off well enough in their home game against Rigby on Friday. They scored early and often, leading the Trojans 18-13 at the end of the first quarter and extending that by two starting the second.
That was about it for the second quarter as Rigby put together three back-to-back three-point shots that gave them the lead and the all important momentum. The Trojans held on to both for the rest of the game.
At the half Preston trailed by four, 26-22. A three-point shot by Austin Smellie at the buzzer would’ve not only made it a one-point game, but perhaps returned the momentum to the Indians. Unfortunately the shot was a hair too late and didn’t count.
